Weekly Hours: Variable

To support the Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) Team with creating information and articles to publish on various media platforms. This will be using fact checked data and information from reliable sources. 

Specific Responsibilities:

Due to the current situation with the Covid-19 pandemic, inaccurate and potentially damaging information is being circulated via social media platforms. The BuDS Covid-19 IAG team will aim to provide concise, accurate and expert information to avoid people being misled by ‘fake news’. Where we can, BuDS will aim to provide appropriate support and advice to people with disabilities and members of the public regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.  With strong support of Project Navigator and Team Enabler and as part of the wider BuDS team:  

  1. To create articles and general information documents around Covid-19.  
  2. To work alongside the Covid-19 IAG team, to decide on what information should be published.  
  3. Help BuDS to collect outcome data and report on its activities.   
  4. To work as part of a team with the IAG, support others with research and proof reading of any documents.  
  5. To attend and take part in a weekly team meeting.  

 

Person Specification

  1. Knowledge and experience of working in media relations, public relations, or news journalism at either national or local level.  
  2. Experience of writing reports for publication on a professional or academic basis  
  3. Working knowledge of using MS Office software (BuDS uses Office 365, Teams, Windows 10). Training will be given if needed.  
  4. Strong planning and organising skills.   
  5. Ability to build relationships and support others.  
  6. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with a wide variety of people including disabled people with impairments of all types.  
  7. Ability to maintain confidentiality and keep private information to themselves.   
  8. Understanding and appreciation of the Social Model of disability.
